Phew, we have just finished a very busy 1 hour at the hatchery tonight! At 6pm, we noticed that there was some movement in one of our nests, as we started observing the sand moving, we saw the first baby Hawksbill turtle come up to the surface, after that it was very busy, as it was a big nest! We had 155 babies out of 163 eggs, at the same time, the nest next door to this one also started hatching. This nest was a little smaller, 81 baby Hawksbill turtles out of 90 eggs. By 7pm all the baby turtles were released, luckily most of our guests were able to share the experience and watch the babies running to the sea. We did 2 releases at different ends of the beach to ensure maximum survival rates. We were really pleased with the hatch rate for these 2 nests, so well done to Pappa Turtle, Raimond!
フ～ッ ちょうど今、ハッチェリーでの忙しい１時間を終えたところ！今日ＰＭ６時ごろに海亀の巣を観察していると異変のある巣を発見。地表がモゾモゾと動いているの。観察を続けていたところ第一号の海亀の赤ちゃん（ホークスビル）が地表に這い出てきたわ。そのあとがもうたいへん！だってこの巣ではたくさんの海亀の卵を保護していたんだもの。この巣では１６３個の卵から１５５匹の赤ちゃんが誕生。そして、な～んと同時に隣の巣からも赤ちゃん海亀が続々と誕生、もうほんとにビックリしたわよ！この巣からは９０個の卵から８１匹の赤ちゃん海亀が誕生したのよ。ラッキーなことに滞在していたほとんどのゲストがこの瞬間に立ち会えたわ。この日は海亀の生存率を伸ばすために２箇所に分けて赤ちゃん海亀を放流。 それにしてもこの２つの巣で保護していたほとんどの卵から赤ちゃんが無事に誕生できて、とてもうれしいわ。やったわね、タートルパパ・レイモンド！
