One green turtle has crawled up the beach of Pom Pom Island one fine night last year to lay her eggs. It was exactly eight days before the New Year countdown of 2014! Lay the eggs she did and it was a total of 94 eggs! These eggs officially became the last batch of sea turtle eggs for 2013 in Pom Pom Island. We then relocated all 94 eggs to our very own Turtle Hatchery at Pom Pom Island Resort, safe and sound. After almost two months of waiting.. and waiting… and waiting for the baby emergence.. pop.. finally on its 52nd day (17/01/2014).. we discovered the sign!
The night of the same day, 86 baby turtle actively ‘boiled up’ from the nest and officially become the first newborn batch of 2014! It was a romantic sight to behold for two of our honeymooner guests who passed by and lucky enough to share the beautiful moment. We let the babies slept in a dark and cool room for a night before we release them to the sea.
The day after, at sunrise, more than half of our in-house guest came to celebrate the rare event of watching these sea turtle babies make their very first odyssey to the sea! Bon Voyage! Wish to see all of you again here for the next 20 years to come!
