Chiemi San was helping our guests yesterday with turtle spotting from the Jetty at Pom Pom Island. It is only possible when we have high tide which happens twice a day and the turtles come in to feed off the sea grass which is shallow water. When the tide goes out, the turtles must return to deeper water where they feed off soft corals, algae and jellyfish.
The guests and Chiemi san were lucky enough to witness a large Green Turtle swim very close under the jetty and were lucky enough to get a photo which is included here. My favourite time for turtle watching from the jetty is in the evening after dinner when you can enjoy the sea breeze and stars at the same time.
