Sometimes its really difficult the first time to get divers to see the Macro life you are trying to show them, you are pointing away like a maniac and they nod and smile and you know that they don’t see what you are trying to show them. It takes a bit of time and patience to really see Macro, you need good buoyancy skills along with good eye sight. I love it the first time someone actually sees the tiny blue cleaner shrimp that lives on our anemone alongside the clown fish, you always get a big oooohhhh! then afterwards they carefully look at every anemone to see if they can find their own little blue shrimp.

ポンポン島のダイビングではたくさんの小さなマクロ生物が見られます。ダイビング中はポインターを使ってここにいますよ、と指示。でもマクロ生物初心者の中には、小さな生物を見るのに目が慣れていないため、私がポインターで「ここですよ」と指すと、その時は頷いてくれたり笑顔で反応してくれるのだけど、実は違うものを見ていたりする・・・小さな生物を見つけるにはじっくり見る、そして忍耐と上手な浮力コントロールも必要。マクロダイビングが初めての人に、クラウンフィッシュ（ニモ）が宿るアネモネにひそむ小さくて透き通った青色のエビ（クリーニングシュリンプ）を見せてあげるとみんな「おぉぉぉぉ！！！」と感激するのよね。それからはアネモネコーラルを見かけると今度は自分でそのエビがいないかを注意して探してみるようになる。。これがマクロダイバーへのはじめの一歩。
