A sense of excitement captivated residents and guests of Pom Pom Island Resort when, early in the morning on July 3rd, a green turtle nest was found to have hatched.

In the evening, guests were invited to watch as the young turtles were released to make their way towards the beautiful Celebes Sea that surrounds Pom Pom Island.

The incredibly small size of the turtles reminds one of the many threats to their survival (e.g. predators, pollution, boats, fishing nets…). A big thank-you goes out to Ms. Joey, a previous guest, for sponsoring this nest and giving these turtles a chance at a prosperous life in the ocean waters.
