Hello Pom Pom Lovers!

We had the fantastic opportunity to participate in the “Sea Surface Temperature Data Sharing Workshop 2019” organised by WWF Malaysia in Semporna.

Currently, Dr Tommy Cheo Seng Kong from WWF Malaysia study the water temperature around Semporna to predict coral bleaching events due to an increase in water temperature (>30°C) for more than two weeks.

For this study, Dr Tommy and his team, selected ten different sites, including Pom Pom Island!

During the workshop, WWF Malaysia shared the results of this research. We also discussed responsible dive tourism and Semporna’s Coral Bleaching Early Response Plan. We all can contribute to Dr Tommy’ important research by sharing any change of coral’s health, and we all can contribute to keeping our coral reef healthy by using eco-friendly diving and snorkelling practices!
