Yesterday evening, the turtle patrol came across another turtle laying eggs, this time a green turtle who laid 85 eggs. Our guests were lucky and were able to see the mother turtle return to the sea after laying her eggs. We look some measurements as we keep records for WWF and Sabah Wildlife Department. The babies should be due over the next 2 months.
In the meantime, the second turtle nest of the season is looking ready to hatch. The sand dropped down last night, which means that the baby turtles are starting to come out of their shells. We checked on the nest every 2 hours during the night, but no fresh signs yet so we expect the babies to come up later today. We will keep you all posted.
