This morning at 10.30 am our first baby Hawksbill turtles arrived.  This nest was sponsored by Andrew and Elaine, our guests who visited us earlier in the year.  This was our biggest number of eggs found at Pom Pom, so we were a little concerned about the survival rate.  We are very happy to report that out of 189 eggs, we had 181 babies, all fit and healthy and released to the sea.

The sand had dropped down about 48 hours beforehand so the dive staff had been taking it in turns to check the eggs throughout the night, 3 babies were born earlier and released directly to the sea.

We wanted to say a big thank you to Andrew and Elaine for their very kind sponsorship of our Hawksbill nests.
